The hungriest beast of them all on this blog is our Photo Of The Day. It consumes hundreds of images every month, and it has been doing so for 10 years. Above you see a sailor, as he fires an M9 pistol during a Navy Handgun Practical Weapons Course (HPWC). This exercise is taking place aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104).

What do you think about their improvised shooting range and barricades? Lovely to have access to a range with an endless backstop.

Do you ever practice shooting prone like this? It’s pretty tricky to get a good enough grip and find the sights. A red dot does miracles to help.

Do you prefer to kneel or squat to get down in a low position?
