POTD: ‘’Welcome To The Jungle’’ – Royal Netherlands Marine Corps

    Royal Netherlands Marine Corps

The Korps Mariniers, or Royal Netherlands Marine Corps, is the amphibious infantry component of the Royal Netherlands Navy. Established in 1665, the Korps Mariniers is one of the oldest marine corps in the world. They have a rich history and have been involved in numerous military operations and conflicts.

They use both the Colt Canada C7 and the Colt Canada C8 as individual weapons. Below – the FN MAG general-purpose machine gun.

The jungle guarantees heat, extremely high humidity, dense vegetation that obscures vision and life-threatening plants & animals. All this makes moving and navigating almost impossible. These extreme conditions require specific training; the Jungle Warfare (Instructors) Course (JWIC).
During the JWIC, survival in the jungle and warfare in river deltas is practiced annually. This training took place in May/June of this year in Suriname for both marines and colleagues from 11 Airmobile Brigade.

Key characteristics of the Korps Mariniers include its focus on amphibious warfare, rapid deployment, and the ability to operate in diverse environments. Marines from the Korps Mariniers are trained to be versatile, and capable of conducting operations on land and at sea. They often serve as a rapid reaction force, ready to be deployed quickly in crisis situations.
