[SHOT 2024] Mountain Billy Gun Lab Teases New AK47-Style Lightweight Rimfire

Mountain Billy Gun Lab, known for the GOAT-15 – a lightweight AR-style rimfire, has expanded its offerings with the introduction of the LR47 at SHOT Show 2024. The new rifle maintains the company’s reputation for scaled-down firearms, following a design philosophy similar to its GOAT-15 predecessor. The LR47 features a scaled-down AK-style trigger system and retains robust metal internals while being housed in a lightweight plastic chassis.

The LR47 differentiates itself with a unique bolt and barrel configuration that is reminiscent of its AR-style counterpart but adjusted to an 80 percent scale of a standard AK-47. This smaller proportion enables a more manageable size for a variety of shooters without compromising on the distinctive AK experience.

The LR47 is designed with flexibility in mind, offering either a threaded or unthreaded barrel to accommodate shooters’ preferences for attachments. Additionally, the rifle boasts an M-LOK compatible forend, allowing users to customize with a wide range of accessories.

The rifle weighs in at approximately 3.5 pounds, although this can vary slightly depending on the chosen configuration. It supports ammunition flexibility as well, being capable of firing both high-velocity and standard rounds. The company has slated the release of the LR47 for later this year.
