[SHOT 2024] PTR Shows Off PTR-63 And Vent Silencers
At SHOT Show 2024, PTR exhibited the prototypes of its forthcoming PTR-63 rifle and Vent silencers, which drew significant attention from attendees.
The PTR-63 rifle reflects keen development compared to its predecessor displayed at SHOT Show 2023. The newer model boasts of a threaded 1/2×28 barrel with a 1/7 twist rate. The gun, fitted with a seamlessly welded Picatinny optics rail, also accommodates standard AR trigger groups – a significant highlight in terms of flexibility. Interestingly, it features a working bolt hold open.
The PTR-63 is chambered in 5.56 NATO, has a barrel length of 16.5 inches and is fed from STANAG pattern magazines. The firearm weighs in at 8.5 pounds. The enthusiasts must wait till late 2024 for the official launch of this anticipated product.
In addition to the PTR-63 rifle, the 3D-printed Vent silencers also attracted interest at the event. Made completely of titanium, the monolithic design silencers come with a scratch-resistant DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating on both the interior and exterior surfaces. Furthermore, the .223 and .308 models use HUB/Bravo threaded mounts, while the 9mm variant employs Alpha mounts.
