HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Realtree Colt or Revolver Revolt?

Welcome everyone to the 221st edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll was sadly unavailable due to some technical difficulties.

What we can say is the original auction is still up with the Harley Davidson-themed 1911 up for grabs. We can only hope someone will find it in their heart to give this custom single stack a new home.

In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a Colt custom shop Anaconda chambered in .44 Magnum. As is tradition, this Realtree-clad gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $2,225 Current Bid with No Reserve.

Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:

“A revolver that never needs cleaning – I’m in! But how do you find the trigger?” – Eric B.

“For $2K do I get to shoot whoever did that to an Anaconda in the leg as well?” – Tim C.

“Did you lose your Lifetime NRA Membership card? Leave no doubt by donning this ruined revolver.” – Adam S.

“Range Officer Fudd nods in approval” – Nick C.

“wake me up when they got one in mossy oak bottomland” – Hop

HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Realtree Colt or Revolver Revolt?

Over the years of writing this series, I’ve become somewhat accustomed to the strange things manufacturers custom shops will often do.  Usually, it’s a dealer-exclusive color in a commonly available firearm like Glock for example.  I however have never seen a limited edition full Realtree camo job done on a Colt Anaconda.  Let alone having it come straight from Colt’s custom shop.

Don’t get me wrong, I like a good camo job as much as the next guy, but this isn’t what I’m used to when I think of high-end Colt Revolvers. I guess at this point the real icing on the cake is the matching optic. Granted this has some practicality as it’s literally in a camo pattern for hunting use, and the over-the-top energy is endearing in that sense. Was this what I was expecting to see today? No, and now I’m not sure how to feel about it.

What do you think? Is this Realtree camo Colt Anaconda worth it for just over $2k or would you rather have something a little more timeless?  As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
