Foxtrot Mike Products (FM Products) released a new firearm called Ranch Rifle that despite being based on and sharing a lot of features with the AR-15, is quite a departure from the original AR design as it has a bufferless action and uses Remington 870 shotgun stocks! Let’s see what other features the new FM Products Ranch Rifle packs and what options are currently available.

FM Products Ranch Rifles have proprietary lower receivers and come with FM Products Mike-15 Gen 2 DI upper receiver assemblies. The 16″ barrels are made of 4150 steel, have .223 Wylde chambers, 1:8″ twist rate, Melonite finish, mid-length gas system, and come with either a crowned non-threaded muzzle or 1/2×28 muzzle threads with a 4-port muzzle brake installed. The aluminum upper and lower receivers along with the 15″ M-LOK handguard are mil-spec Type 3 anodized. The FM Products Ranch Rifles do not have standard AR charging handles, instead, Mike-15 Gen 2 uppers feature a non-reciprocating front charging handle.
To work with the Remington 870 stocks, the trigger guard is moved to the rear of the lower receiver and the Ranch Rifle has a proprietary trigger mechanism with a reversible push-button safety. Besides the FM Products Mike-15 Gen 2 uppers, the lower receiver of the Ranch Rifle is also compatible with Brownells BRN-180 uppers. The Ranch Rifle is fed from standard AR-15 magazines.
The complete Ranch Rifles are currently offered with Magpul SGA ($999) or Woox Gladiatore ($1,199) stocks. FM Products also sells Ranch Rifle lower and Mike-15 Gen 2 upper combos without a stock ($878), assembled Ranch Rifle lower receivers with Magpul SGA ($399) or Woox Gladiatore ($499) stocks as well as lower receivers without a stock ($299).
