CMP Auctioning Naval Special Warfare Mark 13 Mod 3 -The Firearm Blog

The Civilian Marksmanship Program has an absolute unicorn up for auction, a true Mark 13 Mod 3 sniper rifle. This .300 Win Mag looks like it could tell some GWOT war stories if it could talk. It’s not every day that a gun like this is available to the public, so let’s take a look at this rifle.

Lovers of surplus guns have long turned to the CMP for military firearms. While their bread and butter these days are M1 Garands and M1911 pistols, they also have an auction program for rare or unique items. Buyers must meet eligibility criteria as with other CMP firearm sales.

The Mark 13 is a legend in cloner circles. It was a workhorse among Navy SEAL snipers in Afghanistan and Iraq. Coupled with Mark 248 and Mark 248 Mod 1 ammo, it was credited with some very long shots. While it does not include an optic, this specific rifle does include a magazine, a hard case, and a certificate of authenticity. Also, the bolt is marked MK 13 MOD 3 with an anchor. The auction listing has a complete set of photos from various angles, which may be of interest to the clone nerds out there.

Now, before you get your hopes up, you should know that it won’t be cheap. The price was at $9,500 as of writing with about four days left. The auction ends on August 4th, so if you have deep pockets and a love of military sniper rifles, you may have a chance at it. If you don’t want to spend that much but still want to bid on something cool, CMP also currently has a spruced-up M1D rifle and USMC Unertl 10x scope available as well.
