The Beretta 90 series of pistols has continued to be updated with features that users have been looking for, including the most recent upgrade of coming cut for Red Dot Optics from the factory. While the factory optics cut and plate system is what consumers have been asking for, it left the optic a bit higher over the barrel than some were hoping for. Enter engineer, Dylan T. with his flush optics plate for the Beretta 92 RDO pistols. Dylan’s flush fitting optics plate brings the base of the optic to sit directly on top of the slide, rather than having the width of the plate between the slide and optic. Let’s take a look.

    Beretta 92 @ TFB

For anyone just looking into the Beretta RDO, their system involves a series of two interrupted cuts into the top of the slide, as opposed to the Langdon Tactical optics cut that is one continuous and allows the red dot optic to sit in the slide. Dylan’s flush optics plate works with the interrupted factory cuts, and incorporates his own cuts in the plate to work around the slide.

The Beretta 92 RDO flush optics plate isn’t Dylan’s first rodeo, his work was also featured on TFB when he designed a homemade drop-in IWI Tavor .22LR X95 Conversion last year. Dylan, also known as D-lahhh on Reddit, has been active there and his flush optics plate for Beretta RDO pistols are also referred to as D-lahhh mounts when new Beretta 92 RDO owners inquire about optics plates. Dylan has plates for nearly all of the major optics footprints, and each flush optics plate will come with a reduced profile firing pin block so as not to interfere with the plate. Dylan’s website has just gone live, and his product description can be read below.

All optic mounting plates are designed for a specific optic of choice and CNC milled from 7075-T6 aluminum to ensure maximum strength with minimal optic/plate over-hang. The system is currently the lightest and lowest mounting option for the Beretta® factory RDO slides. This includes the 92x, M9A4, 92XI, 92 Performance® and other factory cut RDO slides. There are no slide modifications required, no parts to be sent in, and all installs can be done by the end user or competent smith. A modified firing pin safety block (FPSB) along with specific mounting hardware is included in each package and MUST be installed for proper function. All plates are made to order and UNFINISHED with a typical lead time of 7 business days.

TFB’s Sam S. has a Beretta RDO model and is looking into reviewing the Dlah Flush Optics Plate, so stay tuned for that upcoming review.
