Mead Industries produces projectiles and ammunition under their own branding, and as a supplier for other brands. Mead announced a new 77-grain boat tailed hollow point .224″ bullet at SHOT 2023.

Heavy BTHP bullets have a reputation for enhanced long range ballistics and terminal performance compared to lighter FMJ projectiles. Mead had a block of ballistics gel on hand demonstrating the fragmentation inherent in this style of bullets.

The 77-grain projectile is available for reloaders who want to roll their own. MSRP is listed at $29.99 for 100, $138 for 500, and $235 for 1,000. They said these projectiles would be available very soon, potentially now. However, they are not available on the Mead website as of writing. Keep an eye on their website as they should be available within 30 days.

Loaded 5.56 NATO ammo is also an option from Mead. They offer a 200-round ammo can with an MSRP of $229.99. As of the time of writing, that ammo can is available on their website for $157.49. 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington are not the only cartridges to utilize this projectile. Mead is also producing a 22 Creedmoor load. It uses Petersen brass. MSRP is $61.99 for a box of 20 rounds, but it is listed for $56.99 on their website now. Mead is also in the process of setting up a loading press for 6.5 Creedmoor production, so look for that coming soon.
