A true defensive “fighting” carbine needs to be compact, lightweight, accurate, and reliable to fill its role in the armory. Any equipment added to the carbine’s system should be an important capability of the system without dramatically impacting overall functionality. When it comes to suppressors, I believe that short and light models that are as gas-neutral as possible are the best choice for the AR-15. It seems that the new 3D-printed HUXWRX FLOW 556K has found the sweet spot between suppression and system integration.

I’ll admit to being very critical of the original OSS models: to achieve their forward gas-venting design, these suppressors were long, heavy, two-piece systems that were vulnerable to some issues. But that was years ago. The HUXWRX team seems to have found the silencer sweet spot for direct impingement gas guns like the AR-15.

Ahead of today’s announcement of its public availability, I have been shooting the HUXWRX FLOW 556K for about a month and I’m genuinely impressed. We’ll get a preview of this suppressor on this weekend’s Silencer Saturday.

For those of you concerned with the reasons why these suppressors are just now available for civilian purchase, keep in mind that contract requirements, delivery schedules, and overall availability all will affect release dates.

HUXWRX SAFETY CO RELEASES ALL NEW 3D PRINTED SUPRESSOR

HUXWRX Safety Co. (formerly OSS Suppressors) proudly announces their all-new 3D-printed FLOW 556k suppressor is now available to the public for purchase. While this suppressor utilizes HUXWRX’s patented Flow-Through® and Torque Lock™ technology, it also features the enhanced benefits of 3D-printing which makes it a lighter, shorter, and quieter suppressor.

In addition to the stringent assessment and development undergone by HUXWRX, the FLOW 556k also participated inrigorous FBI Ballistic Research Facility testing as part of a US DOJ FBI contract for the FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT). The results of which revealed the FLOW 556k as an unparalleled product when it came to weight, unsuppressed and suppressed flash, accuracy, sound suppression, reliability, and blowback mitigation.

HUXWRX Safety Co. is honored to have developed systems utilizing the advanced manufacturing techniques of 3D printing. This rapidly evolving technology allows for more efficient quality control, improved logistics, elimination of tolerance challenges, and improvements in the design and development cycle. Ultimately, we have created a product that enables development and production efficiencies unavailable with traditional CNC manufacturing. Why on earth would I want to buy a 3d printed suppressor instead of just 3d printing one?
And don't speak to me about what's legal or illegal.
