[SHOT 2022] Franklin Armory Binary Glock Trigger and F17 .17WSM Rifles (1)

At SHOT Show 2022 Franklin Armory has announced two new products – the updated F17 series of semi-auto rimfire rifles chambered in .17WSM and a binary trigger conversion for Glock pistols. Let’s take a brief look at each new Franklin Armory product.

G-S173 Binary Trigger Conversion for Glock Pistols

SBR'd Glock 17 with a Franklin Armory G-S173 binary trigger
Franklin Armory G-S173 is a binary conversion kit for Gen 3 Glock 17 pistols consisting of the trigger and slide. The latter is equipped with a left-side selector that allows switching between semi-auto and binary modes. For those who don’t know, binary triggers allow firing a round upon trigger pull and release. This kit also has a release round cancellation option which means should you not want a round to be fired upon trigger release, all you need to do is to keep the trigger pressed and turn the slide switch from binary to semi-auto. You can then release the trigger and a round won’t be fired.

The G-S173 conversion kit has an MSRP of $899. The estimated start of shipping is in Q2, 2022. Binary triggers for other models of Glock pistols are in the works.

Updated F17 Series Rimfire Rifles

Franklin Armory notes that their F17 series of rimfire rifles are the world’s first gas piston operated firearms chambered in .17WSM. These rifles also have a rotating bolt lockup of the action. The updated rifles feature a redesigned Osprey Defense gas piston system which allows having more slimline M-LOK handguards. The two new rifles in this series are the F17-X and F17-L. The main differences between the two are that F17-X has a 16″ barrel and forged receivers whereas the F17-L comes with billet machined receivers and a 20″ barrel. The MSRPs of updated Franklin Armory F17 series rifles are not yet announced.

Hmm...how long before the AFT claims these are machine guns?

Ah, guys, not to sound stupid, but isn't the .17WSM a centerfire ? (Winchester Short Magnum). The .17 HMR is a rimfire, or is this all a typo ?

@hostilealbert It's mainly offered in the savage bmag bolt action rifle (which was let down by plastic quality issues) and Ruger m77/17 rifles then there's a few less common options like the one in this article. It does it's lighter projectiles at around 3000fps so quite impressive. I'm pretty sure from holding boxes of ammo in the shop that rounds weigh about the same as 22lr.
