Configure your Christensen any way you like it

Christensen Arms’ big new release for 2022 is the Modern Hunting Rifle (MHR).  The core of the the MHR is a chassis containing the barreled action and magazine.  Beyond that, one can select from four different stocks, two different buttpads, four different firing hand grip sections, three different fore-ends, and either a removable box magazine or hinged floorplate.  This adds up to 192 different ways to configure your rifle.

For example, you can shoot in competitions with heavier configuration with the fully adjustable “Tactical” stock and long “Tactical” fore-end.  When its time to go on a hunt up in the mountains, and you want a lighter weight setup, you can take that same zeroed barreled action and optic, and swap out the Tactical stock and fore-end for the lightweight “Backcountry” stock and “Hunter” fore-end.

Forging The Future of Carbon Fiber

What’s more, all of these components will be made using a special kind of Chopped Carbon Fiber called  FFT (Flash Forged Technology). Christensen claims this helps them produce their carbon fiber components much faster, and that it is a wasteless process that helps them make much more complex shapes out of the carbon fiber.

The main benefit of this process is that it helps them eliminate unnecessary internal weight in the carbon fiber, resulting in some significant weight reductions in a rifle using FFT rather than their previous materials.  For example: the new Ridgeline FFT weighs 5.3lbs, compared to the previous lightest Ridgeline Titanium which weighed 5.8lbs! The Mesa FFT weighs over a half a pound less than its predecessor as well. Furthermore, Christensen’s shapes they’ve been able to achieve using FFT give their new MHR components quite a unique futuristic look.

I had a chance to try out a Christensen MPR equipped with a FFT cheek riser and fore-end at the range. The feel of the material is quite nice, and there was a noticeable weight reduction in the forward half of the rifle. If one decides to get a Christensen MHR, one can have a lot of freedom in how you want your rifle configured day to day.  For more information, please visit Christensen Arms.
