What is the New .30 Super Carry and is it a Big Deal?
In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves looks at Federal’s new .30 Super Carry round. Federal promises that the .30 Super Carry will give you the same power and performance as 9mm in a smaller package, meaning you can hold about 20% more ammunition. Is this true? We take a look at the information we have about this caliber before it is released on January 17, and we talk about new pistols from Nighthawk and Smith & Wesson that are already on the way for this caliber.

One way or the other: As long as metallurgy and tolerances makes it viable, increased pressures improve the efficiency of cartridge ammo. 35-40K psi was viable in the 9mm a century ago. It kind of is time to now step up to 50.
Doesn't mean the gains are going to be that earth shattering. But they're not non-existent, either.
As a purely practical matter, at least in concealed carry friendly jurisdictions: A shorter, lower capacity version of a 50K .32 cartridge; aimed more at upgrading efficiency of .32acp sized pistols than rivaling 9mm; may have been a bigger, more immediately useful development.
+A lot of effort to reinvent the .30 Luger.
Similar ballistics as .30SC with came case dimensions as 9mm. In modern guns could easily go higher velocities +P and could probably do conversions of existing guns with a barrel swap.
