At a cost of $119,320 each (source) this is one expensive Photo Of The Day, that TFB luckily didn’t have to pay for. Above we see a U.S. Marine from the Alpha Battery, 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Platoon, Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron – 363 (Reinforced), Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, as he inspects a FIM-92 Stinger missile prior to firing.

All the pictures are from a range day at the Bradshaw Field Training Area, NT in Australia 2021.

You may notice that the soldiers are carrying the F88 Austeyr, since the Australian Army adopted the Steyr AUG A1.

The range consisted of Marines and Australian Army soldiers utilizing their respective missile systems to take down notional enemy surveillance drones. The training hones the Marines’ capabilities as a skilled expeditionary fighting force that is capable of responding to a potential crisis or contingency.
