BLK LBL has expanded their line of handguards with integrated bipods by introducing a version designed for Desert Tech MDR and MDRX bullpup rifles. The new handguard is called BLK LBL Mantis and it is designed in collaboration with Desert Tech, with the idea suggested by Karl Kasarda of InRange TV who has been extensively testing these rifles during the past several years.

Some of the main advantages of this handguard-integrated bipod design are that when folded, the bipod legs blend in with the lines of the handguard virtually eliminating any snag hazard and allowing to use the entire length of the handguard for offhand manipulations. The latter is especially important for a bullpup rifle because there is not much real estate on the handguards of most bullpup rifles and it’s hard to find a bipod mounting solution without sacrificing the space for your support hand. Well, BLK LBL Mantis handguard/bipod solves this issue for MDR/MDRX rifles.

The body of BLK LBL Mantis handguard is made of 6061-T6 aluminum extrusion and the bipod legs are made of carbon fiber. The overall length of the handguard is 9″ and the assembly weighs in at 16.7 oz. When deployed, the bipod legs can be extended from 6″ to 9″. The handguard also features a top Picatinny rail, M-LOK slots at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, and a QD sling swivel socket on either side. The cant adjustment is concentric with the bore axis and the tension of the cant is adjustable.

The MSRP of the BLK LBL Mantis handguard is $499. It is available in black and FDE color options.
