Welcome everyone to the 79th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the Black Powder 1911 was actually a hot gat.

First off, I do think it’s funny that this gun has not been test-fired and should be evaluated “by a competent gunsmith before firing”.  Maybe they wanted the gun to remain as mint as possible, or maybe someone just doesn’t want to be seen shooting this 1911.  Personally, I would choose the latter.

HGFC is certainly no stranger to themed guns, but this particular model 1911 was a strange choice. I guess I just wasn’t expecting features like Picatinny rail or an ambi safety to be present on this gun. So as Rock Island 1911’s go, at least this one is a little more upscale.

I’ll never fully understand why themed guns are so popular. I certainly enjoyed both seasons of the Mandalorian, but I wouldn’t ever think to Cerakote a gun because of it. Who knows, maybe this is in fact the way, but I’m not counting on it for $1,599. However, and like always I leave it up to you, the reader, to decide.
