Takedown pins can sometimes be stiff to push out by your hands only. while using a spent casing or other items such as the butt end of your knife can work – they also run the risk of marring up your anodizing in the process. In a worst-case scenario, this could damage a polymer lower on some other guns.
The punch measures 3-inches long by 0.20-inches in diameter at the punch end. The opposing larger side of the bunch is larger for use with a striking tool such as a hammer or whatever you might have on hand for tapping out those pesky stuck pins. The softer composite material will ensure that you don’t mess up or damage your firearm or its parts.
For most of my workhorse firearms, I don’t really mind a bit of wear and tear, but for some of my other pieces, I’d like to keep them as pristine as possible. The Composite field punch is made from a special chopped carbon microfiber reinforced nylon material that is virtually weightless. The outer material is chopped carbon microfiber reinforced nylon and the inside is continuous carbon fiber, reportedly making the tool as strong as aluminum.
The Composite Field Punch also features a small loop that can be used in tandem with paracord or other fastening rope to keep it by your side or fastened to other groups of tools in your range bag or field kit. The Composite Field Punch is available from suppressortools.com for $20. Good tools are a must-have for ever avid shooter so make sure you’re investing in the best – check out our guide here.
