Welcome everyone to the 55th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you the readers, decided the engraved Glock 19 was indeed a hot gat.
At this time the original auction has ended with a total of 38 bids and a closing price of $949.00. Congratulations Valhalla Arsenal on the purchase of your new hot gat!
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at bald eagle inspired AR-15 chambered in .223 Wylde. As is tradition, this freedom inspired gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $1,400 Buy It Now.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP?
Freedom Pigeon or Dumpster Chicken?
Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:
“I heard you like rails on top of your rails…” – Giorgio O.
“Remove the Bald Eagle from the endangered species list immediately so I can shoot this one in the face.” – Pete
“For $1400, that gaudy monstrosity better come with an actual pet eagle.” – Will P.
“Definite flight risk…” – Matt M.
“When a Redfield is the best part about your build…” – Rusty S.
Selling this freedom inspired gat is GunBroker seller qualitytym, located in Valparaiso IN. Let’s see what they had to say about this heavily modified AR-15:
Unique AR’s handguard and upper Cerakote burnt bronze, same color fill on lower. Palmettos State limited edition lower. Tack driving barrel 18″ .223 Wylde 1/8 twist. Been to the range twice, less than 800 rounds through. Been on the wall ever since. Obviously, if you’re not NAVY, the port cover can be changed. Redfield scope included.
Most AR-15 builds start with a lower, and I have a sneaking suspicion the inspiration for this build started with this Palmetto State Armory lower. It’s a good thing he covered up the serial number. No one will ever figure that out.
But you heard the man. Navy boys aren’t the only ones that can own this somehow proud blaster. Just swap out that dust cover and you have yourself, well still one of the most eccentric AR builds I’ve ever seen. Seriously, was the goal to put as many Allen screws as possible onto a single rifle?
I do like the 223 Wylde barrel in 1:8 twist. I would however prefer it with literally any other rail on the market today. But hey, that’s just like, my opinion man.
As bolt carriers go, I thought the stars and stripes were a cool addition. This however is completely overshadowed by the presence of this bright red charging handle with no explanation. I’m guessing someone had a leftover paint after finishing the red on the eagle eyes.
Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, and man someone must have loved this idea. I however am just downright confused and slightly nauseous. Still, I could be wrong, and as always I leave it up to you the readers to decide.
