I wish the Remington M53 had come out back in the end of 1918 but WW1 ended. The gun looked like the Remington Model 51 but it was upscaled to shoot .45. The Navy tested it and said it was better than the 1911......what could have been

I have one and have never experienced any of the issues described in this review--after a box of ammo thru it for break-in, it has performed flawlessly. Mine is quite accurate and a joy to shoot. Not the least bit unpleasant. I have taken the time to qualify all five of the magazines that I own--none have had any feed issues (recognize I do not, and will not, use cheep russian ammunition in it). I have never had any unpleasantness from the grip safety. This gun is my primary carry gun when I need to keep printing and profile to a minimum (when such things don't matter so much, I prefer to carry a 1911). Maybe mine is a fluke, but I doubt it.
