Your Privacy Choices
Over the past year, I’ve written all about different ways to carry handguns and the benefits of various setups. I thought it would be interesting to take three different concealed carrier’s gear and look at what they carry on a daily basis. These are various people I have either met at gun ranges or know personally who conceal carry daily. In previous articles, I’ve talked about how everyone’s set up is different despite carrying roughly the same things. Let’s dive into some different conceal carry loadouts and look at what people carry on a daily basis.
Brandon’s Carry Gun and Everyday Items.
Brandon is a 29 year old who works as a business development manager. He carries because travels fairly often for work and spends his days out on the road visiting various accounts. Brandon often carries a Gen5 Glock 19 inside an ANR Design holster with a spare magazine as well as a small Kershaw knife and his minimalistic wallet.
I’m fairly sure Brandon shoots every Saturday at a local range and that’s how we ended up meeting. A fairly common trend for younger concealed carriers to carry the absolute basics for self-defense. Sometimes, the general trend is to go overboard with lights, lasers, and optics on their handguns. Brandon, as well as many others, just want to have the basic right to defend themselves and that’s perfectly understandable. There may not be any groundbreaking choices here, but this is a good depiction of what a typical concealed carrier would carry on a daily basis if they want to carry the basics without being tied down by extra gear.

Chris’s Carry Gun Choice
Brandon’s carry loadout is probably the closest thing to an average every day set up as we will get. Our next conceal carrier is probably one of the darkest and funniest guys I know. Chris was a marine and did two tours in Iraq before becoming a contractor with a British firm for three more years. He is a small frame guy who smiles and always has a joke to crack. From the outside, he seems rather harmless, but out of my friends, he carries the craziest concealed carry gun I have seen in a while.
Every time I’ve seen Chris, he’s carried a Glock 17 Gen5 MOS with a Leupold Delta Point Pro and SureFire X-300UB. He wanted to make the gun his own so he had the frame, slide, and optic all Cerakoted. After seeing his daily carry gun, I was curious about what else he usually carries thinking it would be just as crazy, but it was fairly practical to my surprise. Typically, he will carry a simple Benchmade knife with a SureFire EDCL2-T handheld flashlight along with his wallet and a Luminox watch.
Now I know some of you are jumping down to the comments section to say how excessive it is to carry a light and red dot on your carry gun. Everyone has different preferences and Chris is a great example of this. He decided to set up his carry pistol to meet his daily needs in a carry gun. I was pretty confused about why an older vet would carry such a customized pistol. After talking to Chris about the gun, he thought it would help with his aging eyes and being outside around his property to have a flashlight. From the outside, it may seem excessive but after he decided to explain his thought process, it was much easier to understand everything on his gun.

My Carry Gun and Gear
Out of all the people, I’m a bit of an oddball when it comes to my concealed carry gun and gear. Out of everything I own, I honestly carry my SIG Sauer P226 in the colder months more than any other gun. It’s a fairly easy gun to conceal despite it being a full-size handgun. The 226 usually has a Surefire X-300UA on it along with a straight adjustable trigger from Gray Guns. Just like Brandon, I carry mine inside an ANR Design holster with a spare mag on my NeoMag along with a Hogue OTF Exploit knife.
This is by no means a perfect carry set up but it works for me and I am very comfortable with the SIG P226-series. Being proficient with your carry gun is vital under stress so this choice is a good fit for me. Finding the perfect set up takes time along with a little trial and error through experience. It’s easy to sit back and say what’s best for someone, but the truth is it can be a fairly long process finding what works best for you and your body type or daily lifestyle.
Overall Thoughts
At the end of the day, it all comes down to what works for you and it’s not a bad thing to have different preferences from others. If it serves a purpose for you then that’s all that matters.
