Field stripping Glock pistols is a toolless procedure as simplified as it can possibly be. However, further disassembly does require use of tools. Particularly, in case of disassembling the slide, you’ll need some tool (a pin punch, a small screwdriver or something like that) to relieve the striker assembly tension from the slide cover plate and unlock it from the spacer sleeve to be able to slide the backplate down and access the guts of the slide. If you think you may be in a situation where you’ll need to disassemble the slide and you may not have a tool at hand for that task or if you just want to simplify the process a little bit, then you’ll probably want to take a look at the new Strike Industries Polyflex Slide Backplate which allows toolless disassembly of the Glock pistol slides.
