SilencerCo’s New Omega 36M – A Can That Punches Outside Its Weight Class

Back in July, SilencerCo invited some media including The Firearm Blog to check out their factory and unveil a new suppressor. We were under embargo until today. SilencerCo is coming out with a new all-in-one suppressor called the Omega 36M. It is based on their Omega rifle can but it is modular.

The Omega 36M is a two-piece modular design with a fully welded rear core and a fully welded front module.  The core construction consists of Cobalt 6 and Inconel which provides extreme wear resistance under high heat and heavy fire.  The titanium outer tube combined with the lock-ring prevents tube loosening and reduces weight.  The 36M has a 1.57” outside diameter.  The 36M is finished with a black Cerakote for a heightened level of durability.
The Omega 36M ships with the Charlie ASR mount.  This model is compatible with all SilencerCo Charlie style mounting systems.  The updated Charlie front cap allows for tool-less removal and the rear Charlie mounting system provides better mount to suppressor retention.
The Omega 36M will be available early December with a $1,187.00 MSRP.
CALIBER COMPATIBILITY 22 Hornet to 338 LM
    Total Length 5.1″ – 7.6″
    Weight 9.2 – 16.5oz
    Diameter 1.57″
Muzzle Average 128.9 dB and up
    Finish Black Cerakote

Back in July, I got to shoot a wide variety of firearms with the Omega 36M. It worked on everything that it almost felt boring if that makes sense. 5.56? Yeah, it can suppress that. .308 Win . . . yawn. 9mm sure and even full-auto rated meh. Perhaps I am desensitized to suppressors? But what sold me on the Omega 36M was when they said it can suppress .338 Lapua Magnum in BOTH short and long configurations. Say what?? What manner of sorcery is this? 139 DB at the ear in either configuration.
Watch this video. The spotter is behind me filming my 1,000-yard hit on steel. I was shooting the Rifle above, a Barrett MRAD in .338 Lapua Magnum suppressed with an Omega 36 M. Next to this gun was another .338 Lapua Magnum chambered rifle with a large .338 Lapua suppressor. The Omega 36M was just as quiet and a LOT smaller.

Here is the Omega 36M in the short configuration on the Non-NFA Maxim9 direct thread. Above it is the Omega9K suppressor on another Non-NFA Maxim9.

Remember the full-auto MP5 I shot? It was suppressed with the Omega36M with a trilug mount.

If you want a quality can that can literally do it all, then the Omega 36M is definitely one you should really consider. It is compatible with all of SilencerCo’s Charlie systems mounts. So you can mount it on a pistol like a traditional suppressor with a nielsen device, direct thread, ASR mount, or go Trilug for you roller lock fanatics. Just buy the appropriate Charlie mount.
