Welcome everyone to the 26th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this gat a sweet deal or only have fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you the readers, decided the Umbrella Corp Blockbuster blaster was actually more of a B movie Disaster.  

With that defeat, the listing expired and was never re-listed. We at TFB can only hope that someone found it in their heart to give this B Movie blaster a new home.  

In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a rare nickel-plated Ruger P89 pistol. As is tradition, this shiny gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker with a starting bid of $100.00, but with an unknown reserve.

This auction is for (1) Ruger 9mm P89 Nickel pistol. Rare and collectible. Mostly nickel, including the hammer, slide lock, trigger, and safety. Rare. Cleaned and stored in safe 10 years ago. Fired 10 shots when purchased to test, before storing. Very nice overall As-Is condition, no pitting or damage in mirror nickel finish. Again, you are bidding on (1) Ruger 9mm P89 pistol. Grips and clips are slightly different. Questions or concerns 7o2- 48O -66 2 2. Pick up in Vegas or $25 priority shipping to most US cities. Bill of Sale must be included with purchase. No, both Ruger’s are not included in this auction.  I can only assume the seller found it best to showcase this Nickel Ruger with another Ruger from his collection.  Or perhaps this is some Dr. Dre style logic.  In which he reminds you that he’s still got guns because he hasn’t in fact sold them all.

I should expect nothing less from a firearm being sold out of Sin City.  Frankly, I’m surprised it doesn’t have a set of furry dice attached or maybe a lower backstrap engraving.  No, it seems the nickel-plated finish was the only real upgrade this Ruger needed.  I’d love to be proven wrong, but I’m pretty sure nickel was never a factory finish for the P89.
