[Indo Defense 2018] New from ATA Arms, Shotguns, Handguns, ARs, and Precision Rifle -The Firearm Blog

ATA Arms might be one Turkish company to keep an eye out for in 2019 as the company is greatly expanding into a number of areas. Present at Indo Defense 2018 was their new ASR rifle and ATA 1955 semiautomatic 12 Gauge shotgun. Not at the show but currently in their R&D process is a multi-caliber rifle, a semiautomatic polymer handgun.

The ATA 1955 shotgun is a magazine-fed, semiautomatic 12 Gauge shotgun with a telescoping stock, pistol grip, compensator, and Picatinny rails at 12 and 6 o’clock positions. It will be offered for sale in the United States in a Bronze, OD Green, and a Tan finish (pictured). Although it might appear to have a very modern appearance, the action is probably based on ATA Arms prior semiautomatic designs in the “guise” of a modern one. We should be seeing the shotgun again at SHOT 2019 when ATA Arms displays their products on the show floor.

The ASR rifle still has to be submitted for ATF import approval. If it is approved, then ATA Arms is planning to work with the Academy line of sporting goods stores in order to sell it. The rifle has been developed from the company’s previous hunting rifle designs that are currently on the market, one such design is the Turaq rifle.

But that isn’t all from ATA Arms. We should be seeing an AR-derivative coming out, in addition to a modular handgun design, and finally a multi-caliber precision rifle design as well. We have somewhat of an idea of what their intentions are for at least the appearance of the handgun and the precision rifle, but with the AR15 the company appears to have placed a generic photograph of an AR15 with an optic mounted in their catalog. What many readers might not realize is that ATA Arms actually produces at least 8 components of the MPT76 rifle service rifle. These being the upper receiver, lower receiver, charging handle, forward handguard, bugger tube, side Picatinny rail attachment, buffer cap and the buffer itself.
