Brownells has released new Glock slides which have the length of Glock 17 slide but are designed to fit Glock 19 frames. By installing these slides on your G19 pistol you will get a full-size pistol length slide with the compact grip.
These new slides have enlarged dust cover portion to fit the shorter Glock 19 frames. The dust cover also has a hole cut under it to make the front sight installation easier. The slides come either in uncut or windowed configuration. The latter features a cutout on top of the slide as shown in the images. There are also front serrations on the slides. The new Brownells slides come either with standard iron sight cuts or with a Trijicon RMR mounting cut. These slides are compatible with Gen3 Glock 19 handguns. They are machined from stainless steel and feature a black nitrided surface treatment/finish.
The main advantage of the longer slide is the longer sight radius which in its turn allows acquiring a more precise sight picture. From the concealed carry standpoint, it is normally easier to conceal the long slide/barrel than the grip. The company also claims the longer slides to aid the recoil control.
It is important to know that with these extended slides you will also need to have longer Glock 19 barrels. Because of the different geometry of the locking block and corresponding barrel profile of G17 and G19 pistols, you can’t use Glock 17 barrels in Glock 19s. With these slides, you will need extended Glock 19 barrels which are available through several manufacturers on the market including Brownells.
These new Brownells slides are compatible with standard Gen3 Glock19 slide parts. The slides are available on the Brownells website at an MSRP for the stripped slides ranging from $249.99 to $299.99 depending on the configuration.
UPDATE: Brownells has released a video telling about how to assemble and install these slides.
