The Strealight TLR series of lights have been a solid alternative to the SureFire pistol lights. They are reasonably priced and hold up well to heavy use. The TLR-1 and TLR-2 have been a staple for Streamlight but they are somewhat large as a two cell light. If you want a compact light from Streamlight then you can go with the TLR-3/4/6.  For single cell lights they have the TLR-3 and TLR-4 but those are polymer as are the TLR-6. Well now they are coming out with a single cell metal pistol light.

The TLR-3 runs on a single CR2 battery and only puts out 125 lumens. The TLR-6 is only 100 lumens. The TLR-7 runs on a single CR123 battery and puts out 500 lumens!  “But Nick, what about run time?” Fear not. The TLR-7 has a 1.5 hour run time just like the TLR3.

Their TLR-8 is the TLR-7 but with a red laser at the bottom of the housing. Just like their TLR-2. It too runs on a single CR123 battery for 1.5 hours. Yes, you can select between light, laser or both by pressing both activation switches simultaneously.

Due to its compact size, now you can have a weaponlight with plenty of light that does not extend past the barrel of your Glock..

The TLR-7 will have an MSRP of $215 and the TLR-8 will be $350. This is a bit more than the TLR-1 and TLR-2 but cheaper than the SureFIre XC1. Plus it puts out more light and lasts twice as long. Sure it is not as compact as the XC1 or XC2 but that is a small compromise. Given its single cell nature, the TLR-7 and TLR-8 should be much narrower than the TLR-1 and TLR-2 making custom kydex holsters narrower and easier for conceal carry.

Streamlight will also be offering their TLR-6 line in FDE molded polymer.
