[SHOT 2018] SUREFIRE SPOTLIGHT – EDC, Flashlights, Weaponlights And More

    SUREFIRE SPOTLIGHT

SUREFIRE Spotlight – The powerhouse illumination company is moving their focus towards their core principles of designing extremely bright, durable and practical flashlights as well as listening to requests from current and prospective customers. Visiting the SUREFIRE booth is always one of my first stops at the annual SHOT Show, and this year didn’t disappoint. Besides launching new models, the California based company has improved several previous models to increase lumens, in some cases double that of previous years, as well as improve beam throw.

Two SUREFIRE products caught my eye this year. First, the XH55G: a weaponlight that is not only MASTERFIRE holster ready, but the green aiming laser has been repositioned to the top of the light as opposed to the bottom in previous generations. The move puts the beam closer to the bore line, reducing offset correction needs, especially at distance as well as under stress.

The next SUREFIRE product that grabbed my attention is the SF-556-OBC, an AR15 Bolt Carrier Group (BCG), spring and buffer combination that is designed to work when running suppressed. The carrier features an internal weight and spring combination that helps to increase lock and dwell time, reducing ejection port gas issues. There are additional enhancements to the bolt, spring and buffer –

    SUREFIRE SPOTLIGHT – SHOT 2018

The M312C Scout Light is a lightweight, compact WeaponLight featuring a high-output LED that delivers 500 lumens of blinding white light. A proprietary TIR lens shapes the recoil-proof LED’s light into a beam with plenty of reach but enough surrounding light to accommodate peripheral vision, making the M312C ideal for close-to longer-range applications. The rugged M312C attaches quickly and securely to any MIL-STD-1913 rail via its integral low-pro le RM45 mount, which positions the light in the off-set position between the rails of a MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) forend, decreasing overall weapon pro le and limiting potential snag factor. The light is activated via a waterproof DS07 switch assembly, which includes a click-on/off pushbutton switch, a system-disable feature, and an ST07 plug-in momentary-on remote switch with seven-inch cable. The integrated pushbutton and remote switch assemblies operate independently, providing switch redundancy. Constructed of lightweight aerospace aluminum, with a Mil-Spec hard anodized nish, and O-ring sealed to keep out the elements, the tough M312C thrives in combat-like conditions and provides a tactical advantage in low-light situations — without any sacri ce in weapon maneuverability.

The rechargeable Guardian® was designed and built with the Great Outdoors in mind. This dual-beam hand-held ashlight features two separate LED/re ector assemblies to deliver two very different beams, both incorporates our auto-adjusting output IntelliBeamTM Technology. The dual-beam con guration provides the ultimate exibility to adapt to any environment.

A rechargeable lithium polymer battery not only powers both beams of light, it features a USB-C connector for taking a charge and also to charge small devices at 5 Volts with a current range of 1.5-2A (0.5A from a USB 2.0 source).

An ultrasonically welded body and charging port cover keep the elements out no matter the season. An integrated lanyard loop provides a secure attachment point to securely tether the Guardian® to your wrist or neck.

The “DFT” stands for dual fuel tactical, and represents the natural evolution of our best-selling Fury® Tactical ashlight into a single- output 1,500* lumen light that can also function as a searchlight. The dual fuel feature means the light can be powered by either two 123A lithium batteries or a single economical 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable battery.

Press or click its tailcap switch for ergonomic, foolproof activation under even the most stressful conditions. Its precision micro-textured re ector shapes a smooth useful beam that is far-reaching, with a bright central area that is also optimized for situational awareness.

The high-strength aerospace aluminum body and tailcap are knurled for a secure grip and Mil-Spec hard anodized for extreme resistance to abrasion and corrosion.

Designed to interface with the Master re® Rapid Deploy Holster, the XH55G features a green laser that is highly visible to the human eye, and an ultra-high MaxVision BeamTM that generates 1000 lumens of blinding broad light. The XH55G features two selector switches – one white light, and one for laser.

Invented by the legendary Jim Sullivan, the designer of the M16, the SureFire Optimized Bolt Carrier (OBC) improves functioning of the weapon system during both unsuppressed and suppressed ring. The patented design makes numerous improvements to the standard Mil- Spec full-auto bolt carrier group by allowing more time for reliable feeding of ammunition from the magazine, while nearly eliminating bolt-over-base malfunctions. The OBC also delays unlocking of the bolt during the ring sequence, which allows expanding gases more time to exit the bore, in turn reducing back-pressure. Additionally, the neutrally balanced counterweight improves carrier and barrel extension lock-up, and eliminates bolt bounce.

Neutrally balanced counterweight automatically adjusts cyclic rate, negating need for switch or setting adjustments

    • Improved cam path allows the chamber pressure to drop another 15% before unlocking which permits more gasses to exit the bore
    • Delays unlocking
    • Increased safety time allows ammunition more time to feed properly
    • Nearly eliminates bolt bounce
    • SF-OBC-556 comes standard with Optimized Bolt Carrier, Long-Stroke Buffer, and Improved Buffer Spring

SureFire’s SF3P-50BMG-M2HB Flash Hiders are constructed of heat-treated stainless steel and chromoly, precision machined from USA mill-certi ed bar stock. Each Flash Hider features a precision machined sleeve that mounts to the weapon system allowing the ash hider to attach to the barrel and features robust tines that will withstand the rigors of combat. The SF3P-50BMG-M2HB Flash Hiders typically result in impressive reduction in muzzle ash compared with a bare muzzle.
