Hudson Manufacturing has just released their new H9A pistol.
It is an aluminum-framed version of the striker fired double stack Hudson H9 pistol chambered in 9x19mm. The original Hudson H9 has a steel frame with interchangeable G10 made grips, while the H9A will be half a pound lighter than the 34 oz H9 due to the aluminum chassis and some sleek lightening. It uses rough texture polymer grips also, which are very aggressively textured and very grippy.
Hudson is also introducing a threaded drop in barrel that will fit both the H9 and the H9A.
If you aren’t familiar with the H9, which was introduced at last year’s SHOT Show, our own Hraycha H. ran a brief synopsis last year (See https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2017/01/13/new-hudson-h9-pistol-released/)
The unusually large dust cover of the slide allows positioning the recoil spring assembly and the barrel lower than it is in 1911s. The result is a lower bore axis, which should decrease the muzzle flip. Below the dust cover H9 features a standard accessory rail. Imagine how futuristic will the gun look with some of the handgun lights installed. The magazine capacity is 15 rounds.
The design of this firearm is based on the 1911 pistol – heavily modified and modernized. The pistol has a unique trigger combining some good features of 1911nd modern pistol triggers. Particularly, it has a straight pull 1911-style trigger with a built in Glock-ish trigger safety. The trigger pull is from 4.5 to 5 lbs with .115″ of trigger travel. Hudson H9 comes standard with the trigger safety, however, it can be configured to have a 1911-style manual safety either in left or right-hand position or ambidextrous.
Hudson H9 also features an ambidextrous slide release lever and a reversible magazine release button. The gun weighs 34 oz unloaded.
