NEW OPTIC: MeoRed T Reflex Sight from Meopta
Meopta USA announced a new red dot optic designed to operate as a primary sight for an AR or other modern sporting rifle. Called the MeoRed T reflex sight, it is designed to provide no magnification (1x with a 30mm objective) with unlimited eye relief.
The sight uses a 1.5 MOA red dot in a tube style housing. It has 12 brightness levels and is compatible with night vision devices. It operates on a single AA battery. A cut off circuit will automatically shut down the sight after 8 hours of non-use.
Some people dismiss the AA battery as not being a professional’s power source, but it has the benefit of being commonly available. Additionally, AA batteries using lithium chemistry can provide extended standby and run times that bring it on par with CR123s. According to the company, a single AA will power the MeoRed T for at least 2k hours on a medium setting.
Meopta states the optic is waterproof to 2 meters for 2 hours. The lenses have a hydrophobic coating that helps to shed water, rain, snow and even fingerprints. It should certainly withstand fierce rainstorms. It has an operating temperature of -40˚ F to 140˚ F.
This sight is less than 5″ long and weighs less than 9 ounces. The suggested retail price is $999.99.

A grand? are they nuts? I use a red dot on my AR's already but only paid between $100 and $150 plus they are magnified because I'm older and my eyesight needs a little help these days, all of mine have similar features as this and use the CR123's so the extra batteries I carry just in case take up little to no space, mine have adjustable magnification and brightness, our range is only 100 yards so I rarely get to shoot much more than that anymore but even with bad eyesight I can see everything perfectly fine, so where's the market for a red dot that costs a grand when I built my AR's for under $600 each including the red dot scope? I doubt the average AR owner spends much more than that on an AR today until they add accessories, maybe that's the military price.
$999.00? At that price I might as well save up another $200 and buy an ACOG.
