Police seize homemade semi-automatic handgun

One mans humble dream of becoming a master craftsman at Taurus was cut short after Police in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil seized this entirely homemade .380 semi-automatic pistol (excluding the magazine) which was made in his backyard, presumably from melted down Coca-Cola cans.

Such enterprising cottage industries operating out of garage workshops are regularly uncovered in Brazil. Last year the big man himself was caught manufacturing and distributing utterly terrible looking SMGs to good little boys and girls at 1k a pop.

I'd lay pretty good odds it functions better than some factory pistols. We can laugh at the appearance all we like but I for one don't volunteer to stand in front of it for testing purposes. You can make a zip gun out of a nail, a chunk of wood, a piece of tubing, and a length of baling wire. He built a semi-auto pistol instead. I'm impressed!

It amazes me that reporters are always amazed that someone can make their own firearms. They were being made by blacksmiths long before machine tools were invented. It isn't like making your own computer chips in your garage or anything.
