NcStar announced several new reflex sights prior to the SHOT Show next month. One is a solar powered rifle sight while the other is a pistol sight designed for the Glock MOS pistols.
SPD Solar Reflex Sight
The SPD Solar Reflex Sight is a red dot kind of sight that primarily operates on a single AA battery. However, the unit has a small solar cell on top that serves as a secondary power source. It is not immediately clear is the SPD has a built in rechargeable battery that is charged by the solar panel, or if the solar panel is intended as the direct source of backup power.
The unit has a built in quick attach mount for Picatinny rails.
FlipDot
The FlipDot is a reflex type sight that is designed to mount to the top of the slide of a Glock MOS pistol. These sights directly fit the slides that have been cut for the Trijicon RMR sight.
Similar to some of the backup sights used on rifles, the FlipDot folds down and deploys instantly when the button is pushed. The rear of the sight has a notch style sight for use with the front sight regardless of the FlipDot being deployed.
This unit is made of anodized aluminum and runs on a single CR2032 battery.
