Sturm, Ruger & Co. announced a new line of rimfire rifles called the 10/22 Takedown Lite. The new rimfire long guns are designed with a lighter weight barrel assembly, a modular stock and take down easily for compact storage and transportation.

The new Takedown Lite rifles use a tensioned target barrel assembly that place a ventilated, aluminum alloy sleeve over the top of a alloy steel barrel. The barrel is cold hammer forged and a little over 16″ in length. The barrel is threaded, so it is ready for the company’s own .22 caliber sound suppressor.

Ruger added the company’s modular stock to the gun, which allows the shooter to set the gun up for the best length of pull and cheek height for his or her needs. Both a low comb (standard length) and high comb (standard length) modules are included with the gun. Other modules are also available from the company.

The company also includes a soft sided carrying case to transport or store the rifle in its broken down form. The case has multiple pockets to store additional magazines and gear. As one might expect, this 10/22 uses standard rotary magazines and comes with a 10 round mag. The company’s 25 round magazine will also work in this rifle.

The weight of this gun is 0.1 pounds greater than the plain Takedown, but when compared to the target version of the Takedown (with the same modular stock and a conventional fluted target barrel), the Lite rifle comes in 0.6 pounds lighter.

These are available with four different barrel/receiver colors: black, blue, red and green. The MSRP for each is $659.
