Hawke Sport Optics Frontier Rifle Scope

While investigating the Hawke Sport Optics booth I found a new offering for 2015, the “Frontier” rifle scope. The Hawke Frontier rifle scope is a variable power scope that is presented in two configurations. The first is a 5-30x40mm long range option, while the second is the 2.5-15x40mm intermediate range option. From personal experience the 2.5-15 power option should satisfy the optical needs for the vast majority of rifle shooters, but the 5-30 power option is very nice for long distance shooters.

Talking with a floor representative each Hawke Sport Optic goes through an 18-point quality inspection process during the manufacturing process to ensure the best for each customer. In addition, each Hawke optic is submerged to 6 feet for a minimum of 10 minutes to ensure water resistance.

The Hawke Sport Optics floor representative stated that the Frontier rifle scope has just completed its final testing processes for manufacturing, so many of the specifications and dimensions are not currently available. The representative advised that the Frontier will be available on the market around “mid summer” of this year. Though not specific, when I examined the Hawke Frontier, the scope had dimensions that were well suited for a hunting or target rifle, and the weight appeared to be very manageable.

In handling and examining the Hawke Frontier, the scope appears to be made with high manufacturing detail. The turrets have crisp rotations, with the illuminated reticle knob incorporated with the parallax turret on the left side of the scope. The Hawke Frontier has 11 illuminated reticle settings, which illuminate the center crosshair. The illuminated reticle provides greater visual identification of aiming during a variety of lower light shooting situations.

The known Hawke Frontier rifle scope specifications include:

    • Optional TMX Reticle – 8 mils elevation markings; 4 mils windage markings each direction
    • Optional LR Dot duplex reticle with incorporated BDC hash marks from 100-600 yards
    • Second focal plane reticle enhancement view
    • Variable distance aim points provided for calibers ranging from .22-250 to .300 Win Mag
    • MSRP – $799 for the 5-30x model; $699 for the 2.5-15x model.

For those familiar with Hawke Sport Optics you’ll notice that the Frontier rifle scope is displaying the brand new Hawke logo and badging emblems on the side of the scope. These emblems will replace the old Hawke symbols starting with all new productions.
