The Savage Arms MSR-15 Competition is HERE

    MSR-15 Competition

Savage Arms has cemented a pretty long legacy of producing quality barrels and actions, but just recently began to dabble in the AR-15 platform. That began with the MSR-15 (Modern Savage Rifle) a few years ago. That entry into the world of AR-15s has evolved into several caliber offerings and variations. Now they are trying to attack that market even harder with a much more expensive and discerning rifle in the MSR-15 Competition!

This rifle is NOT catering to your average joe. It has an MSRP of $2,875 and wants you to be competition ready out-of-the-box. At an initial price point like this, hopefully the podium of wherever you are competing as well.

This rifle features many components that are typically reserved for custom shop quality rifles, but in an eye-catching and factory-configured AR-15. Savage Arms provides this overview of this newly minted firearm:

The speed, accuracy and customization needed to win are built into every aspect of the new MSR 15 Competition. Savage® teamed with PROOF Research® to craft a barrel specific to the firearm. Its unique ported muzzle brake allows the shooter to tune the recoil impulse to stabilize the muzzle for faster, more accurate follow-up shots. The custom-length gas block can be adjusted for optimal cycling of the full range of bullet weights, as well as for use with a suppressor. The gas block has also been upgraded with an integral Picatinny rail and a custom handguard.

A more in-depth dive into the make-up of this rifle piece-by-piece is presented in this video from Savage Arms’ YouTube Channel.

The MSR-15 Competition is currently going to be chambered and offered in your mainstay .223 Rem (1 in 8″ Twist), and the increasingly popular .224 Valkyrie (1 in 7″ Twist). Both rifles weigh out at 7.90 Lbs and are nearly identical in make-up. The only strong differentiating factor is the caliber itself and their twist rates.

So… the only question that needs answering is will consumers buy this rifle?

Is $2,875 a viable price-point?… Is this gun under-valued with the build list needed to create this firearm?…

Sound off in the comments! We would be glad to hear your thoughts!
