A great photo of a custom .308 build by @west_texas_ordnance.

Finished up this cool 308 for a customer. Trued @remingtonarmscompany 700 action, threaded bolt handle and Mini M16 extractor, Lilja 5R 10 twist barrel in the Mk13 contour, #mcmillian A2 with stock saddle, McCann Industries MIRS rail with a @nightforce_optics 3.5-15 F1. Out front is a @surefirelights Socom762-RC silencer. Everything was hand camouflaged in Desert Sand and Barrett Bronze @cerakote

    Damn nice shootin’ iron.

It does look like a pretty slick and accurate setup. So very jealous suppressors are verboten in my country.

Funny how a couple wars in the desert made desert cam super popular in the civy world. I personally refuse to get on the desert boots, desert cam, brown rifle bandwagon, but to each their own I guess.

Might be useful if you live in a desert like in Texas or something, though.

If you live anywhere in the natural world, brown/tan is a great choice

You mean to tell me you never had a kid brother? Y’know, always wanting to do what you were doing and dress how you were dressing? Many folks can only be awesome vicariously through others and I find emulation to be a high form of flattery.

Uh, what if you live in the desert?

      • The_Champ

Then clearly it makes sense, but I sure don’t recall a lot of desert cam stuff before Iraq and Afghanistan.

The more practical tan/desert-camo happens to be, the more style points one acheives by going with black instead, so it cancels out.

True, but the silly thing is that deserts come in different colors, from deep red, to yellow-brown to grey-black (and more) – but the fashion has anointed the yellow-brown. And FN (to take one example) cannot even agree on their version on the same gun.

    But will it blend?
