Ruger 10/22 Takedown Lite

Ruger Takedown Lite

Sturm, Ruger & Co. announced a new line of rimfire rifles called the 10/22 Takedown Lite. The new rimfire long guns are designed with a lighter weight barrel assembly, a modular stock and take down easily for compact storage and transportation.

The new Takedown Lite rifles use a tensioned target barrel assembly that place a ventilated, aluminum alloy sleeve over the top of a alloy steel barrel. The barrel is cold hammer forged and a little over 16″ in length. The barrel is threaded, so it is ready for the company’s own .22 caliber sound suppressor.

Ruger added the company’s modular stock to the gun, which allows the shooter to set the gun up for the best length of pull and cheek height for his or her needs. Both a low comb (standard length) and high comb (standard length) modules are included with the gun. Other modules are also available from the company.

The company also includes a soft sided carrying case to transport or store the rifle in its broken down form. The case has multiple pockets to store additional magazines and gear. As one might expect, this 10/22 uses standard rotary magazines and comes with a 10 round mag. The company’s 25 round magazine will also work in this rifle.

The weight of this gun is 0.1 pounds greater than the plain Takedown, but when compared to the target version of the Takedown (with the same modular stock and a conventional fluted target barrel), the Lite rifle comes in 0.6 pounds lighter.

These are available with four different barrel/receiver colors: black, blue, red and green. The MSRP for each is $659.

The price seems a little high, plus the fact that a scope or red dot is required as there are no iron sights.

That looks like the Ruger American Rimfire stock. Now there’s a rifle I want a takedown version of…

I love my Ruger American rifle

Just got one as my son’s first rifle. The bolt lift is a bit stiff. But other then that it looks awesome. Waiting for his birthday to see him shoot it.

Magpul just announced their own takedown stock, should fir regular and target barrels. If I feel like spending more than half than what I spend in a Takedown rifle on a stock, then it’ll probably be the Magpul because of the MLOK slots.

Any idea when available? Looks like the red one is a Gallery of Guns exclusive, but I can’t find it on their site, or gunbroker.

    $659?! Really?

You must be new to Ruger and their MSRPs.

Ruger has way high msrps. Expect street prices to be around 450 more or less.

I bought a used Valquertson [sp] for $600

  • Treyh007

I really like the idea but I agree with some of the others that it seems a lil high, if they get in the $450- $500 range I think I would do it.

Iron sights must have weighed to much.

The price is not high at all. Ever build a lightweight 10/22 from high quality TacSol parts? You end up with a far better gun, but the price gets up there quick. This Ruger will be great for the budget minded that want a light takedown. I’ll stick with my TacSol.
