SIG Legion Series

SIG announced their Legion series just this past fall of 2015 and it soon became clear this wasn’t just about a gun or two but about a way of firearm life. The new series runs the gamut from guns to holsters to knives to lights and more. This year at SHOT during SIG’s special range event it was nice to get a closer look at the pistol part of the new series and rather than show just one, I’m going to go ahead and put all four pistols in this one post.

So far the series includes four calibers: 9mm, .357 Mag, .40 cal and .45 ACP. First up is the P226 which comes chambered in 9mm, .357 SIG, and .40 cal. It fires DA/SA, has a trigger pull of 10.0/4.4 lbs, and weighs in at 34 ounces empty. Take a look at

Next is the P226 SAO which comes in 9mm. This is a SAO pistol with a 5.0 lbs trigger pull weighing in at 34.4 ounces empty. MSRP $1428. Take a look at

The P229 comes in 9mm, .357 Mag, and .40 cal. It’s a DA/SA pistol with a trigger pull of 10.0/4.4 lbs weighing in at 29.6 ounces empty. MSRP $1428. Take a look at

Last but certainly not least is the P220 which is chambered in .45 ACP. Specs are not yet available but I can tell you this was a nice pistol to shoot. It fit my larger hands well, delivered fine accuracy, and the trigger was smooth, making follow-up shots simple to take. This gun should be available soon and hopefully I’ll have specs later this week.

All four guns are good additions to SIG’s firearm catalog and promise to make popular weapons for concealed carry, home defense, and target practice. I’ll be spending significant trigger time with these guns quite soon and will be able to give a far more detailed review.

Damnit. They just had to make a Legion .45 220. So cruel.

It is worth mentioning that the G10 grips shown on that P220 Legion are not the grips that will be shipped on the pistol. The P220 Legion grips didn’t make in time and I was told they will be on the pistol sometime later in the week (perhaps tomorrow).

I think you mean .357 SIG not .357 Magnum.

Are you sure Coonan didn’t do a special run with Sig?

“The Legion, huh? Looks like a nice gun.” -Anonymous, probably.

Is that a Legion P320 with an MOS/CORE style optic mount system? (just kidding, I know it’s know a Legion, but more deets please!
