Now that is true gun porn.

I’m not ashamed things got a little sticky

  • JumpIf NotZero

I’m so glad I never bought a UMP. I’m either way about the final costs of my MP5, but that’s a different matter.

That gun kicks like a mule relative to it’s caliber. A 5.5lb direct blowback 45acp huh…. Great thinking there HK! It wouldn’t be the same issue if that gun costs what they planned for it to cost around $600 to police/mil, to be a “disposable”, but at the $3k it would cost to do one for a US civilian….. lol, Hk No.

The options are limited if for some reason for “need” 45acp, but all the same, I’m glad I came to my senses when I did.

I love how you manage to inject completely irrelevant nonsense into every self promoting post you make.

      • Freefly

I’m glad that I’m not the only one with the same observations.

      • DonDrapersAcidTrip

What on earth? He’s.. discussing the gun in question?

Your comment on the other hand contributed exactly nothing?

        • Dan

Kelly and Jump are secretly best friends. Like you and me

          • JumpIf NotZero

I have no idea and don’t care who that guy is. Just some troll on the Internet it seems.

          • FourString

some ppl r jes angry i guess

          • Dan

I think he lives to harass you.

My department has one in .40s&w. For reasons I’ll just call “budgetary” and “pc” (so as not to be seen as making disparaging remarks about admin) we don’t get to use it. I’ve shot short bursts on full auto with it once, but I hardly have any trigger time on full auto to be accurate yet.

IMO, I’d prefer our UMP for most situations over our 16″ barrel ARs, strictly for the compactness, even in semi-auto only. We don’t get lots of situations where we need to draw down on someone anyway, and of those times, no one’s been armored.

I know exactly what you’re talking about though. As you say, our UMP cost between $600-700, which is exactly the price it should be. But for me to go and buy a USC would cost well over that, plus conversion costs in the range of stupid (at least for someone on a public servant salary with a family to raise). Even if I could afford it, I probably still wouldn’t do it just to keep HK from getting the satisfaction. They make great guns, but IMO, they’re not worth what they ask for them. I know people claim import regs as to why the USC has to be converted at all, but there are ways around it that came too little to late and too much money. Thus the USC has been discontinued.

I also face the inward struggle of wanting to use something that the general public can’t have. My state does not allow for NFA or class 3, so even though I fight for us to have those rights, it still feels weird (if I were able to qualify on the UMP) being able to use something like that. I’m hoping that’ll change soon, but we got jacked around in the state legislature last year and that was for suppressors only.

      • JumpIf NotZero

No NFA and Class3 huh? Transfer to a free state! 🙂 I see the utility in a bull-pup for that scenario.

40sw would be better. I was honestly stunned how aggressive the 45 was even in burst. You can see it in the video, how far the bolt goes back into the received and then how sharp the movement in the guy’s cheek is. Don’t get me wrong, I still kinda want one in 9mm, but exactly as you put, I’m not going to give HK a dollar if I don’t have to.

        • BattleshipGrey

Our laws are exactly why I’ve been in love with the bull-pup concept. However, they aren’t cheap either. For the longest time I was planning on getting an FNS2000, but my own budget never seemed to catch up. I’ve since settled on a recce style AR with a PA 1-6x scope and come in at a few hundred under what the FN or Tavor starts at.

    • Cal.Bar

Have to agree. My LEAST favorite HK. Recoil is just too bad in this. Not the kind of recoil that hurts your shoulder, but rattles the hell out of the gun and is just uncomfortable to shoot. Might have something to do with the fact they discontinued it. (or at least stopped importing to the US). Stick with the MP5 kids.

    • joe

I’ve never had those issues with my USC, but then, USC.

      • FourString

        i prefer UCLA :p

  • Delta

that UMP looks awful to shoot suppressed. The gassing out the ejection port was massive lol

  • DW

Larry Vickers has a video about UMP versus m3 greasegun. They are surprisingly comparable in just about every way except for the sights.

  • Amplified Heat

So, what would ya’ll say to an MP5 upper on a USC polymer lower, with bolt hold open, USC mags, AR trigger parts, and USC/UMP ambi selector?

    • iksnilol

      “God, have mercy”?

      • FourString

He listed too many parts for my brain to compute x.x
