This is a shot of my Remington R1. It is stock, except for the USGI grips. The ammo box is a reproduction of the type used in WWII.

I had been searching for a good surplus 1911A1, but the prices were much more than my budget and what I really wanted was a good, tight shooter.

Picking up the R1 was the answer for me. Vintage looks with modern manufacturing (and a few upgrades) – it is the first gen Miata of 1911s.

Thanks William.

So between this and the sr1911…..what’s the better 1911?

Ruger is better made and has a better trigger

Vintage looks, except for sights that you can actually use.

Californians don’t have that option 🙁

Picked one up on sale in stainless steel. Very nice.

I’ve posted this before, but here’s some vintage Remington ammo. It was given to me by my grandfather-in-law.

I love the vintage look. At one point Cimaronn was selling a high polish 1911, I think without the A1 trigger cuts. I wanted one as a display piece, but not enough to spend $600 on one.
