Federal HST in .380 ACP

Federal Premium is now shipping the new .380 ACP load in the HST line. This load uses the HST design bullet that has gained significant popularity in the law enforcement and personal protection markets. The cases are nickel plated and bullets weigh 99 grains.

According to the company, the rounds were tested for penetration and reliability using a handgun that had a 2.75″ barrel. Hopefully this means the rounds will have a similar level of success Speer has seen with the short barrel loads in the Gold Dot line.

The suggested retail price is $25.95 for a box of 20 rounds.

My thoughts exactly. The biggest problem with these hugely expanding modern hollowpoints is their lackluster penetration when fired at 380 velocities. After watching his video on the “Lehigh XP” round, it’s the only ammo I will carry in my 380 pocket gun. Perfect penetration, impressive wound track, and consistent results.

Anyone else ever have problems feeding HP’s in a Sig P238? Mine are getting hung up on the feed ramp.

My p238 shoots focchi extreme just fine. It jams once ever 4 on the Lehigh XP 🙁

I wish we had a stronger spring option. I am hoping it would improve feeding.

      Shootingthebull410 please test 🙂

Maybe ill try some of that.
Ever do any at home feed ramp polishing?

        • webrebate4u

          Considered it, but nope.

What ammo have you tried so far?

Federal Premium Personal Defense. Not HST.

I’m going to stick with flat point FMJ out of my .380.

Will they kill deader than Federal .380 Hydra-Shok? If so, to what degree?
