The Firearms Of Russia’s Central Armed Forces Museum

The photo of the captured Georgian Bushmaster M4 Carbine was apparently taken in the Central Armed Forces Museum, Moscow, Russia. A reader emailed us photos be took of the many interesting firearms on display at the museum …

I hope to visit Russia myself one day. I would love to tour a Russian gun factory. Nobody has offered me a tour yet.

Many thanks to Tonio for the photos.

What is the gun of the 4th photo? Using PPsh-41 Drum type magazine but with a foldable metal stock….

    • bsnighteye

It’s PPD-40 (Ancestor of PPSh, Sh stands for designer Shpagin, D for Degtyarev) that was gifted to one of generals.

Other photos include PSS silent pistol, shooting knife NRS-1, mine MON-50, automatic grenade launcher AGS-17, VSS sniper rifle, AS “Val” special rifle, 6P9 pistol, APB pistol, chechen “Borz” SMG and others…

Photo 9, is it some kind grenade launcher?

        • bsnighteye

Yes, it’s AGS-17 light automatic grenade launcher. Light is not loud word. You don’t have to mount it with sandbangs, AGS + ammo can be transported by 2 men. Though almost every BMP and BTR has special slots for AGS making them a potential mobile hard mounting point.

Thanks, I really couldnt get a sense of scale from the pic, but it looked the part! What a mean little beast!

Nice collection get past the commie propaganda it be a fun trip. Love the AK-47

    • Mr Silly

You mean propaganda like the lie America lost the Vietnam war or the lie that America creates war for its Military Industrial Complex to thrive (aka USMC General Smedley-Butler speech and book “War is A Racket”) or the lie Republican Congressman Dr Ron Paul repeats that America is an Imperialistic malignancy?

      • Nicks87

Dont even get me started. The good ol’ US of A has shoveled its fair share of propaganda, especially in the last 10 years or so.
