The Crazy Quail

It is very easy to succumb to sensory overload at the Shot Show. Overloading can lead to several unfortunate side effects, all of which result in missing something interesting. In the interest of covering the Shot Show thoroughly, here is the Crazy Quail. This is a product that I would have missed because of Shot Show overload.

Crazy Quail is a live bird shooting simulator built for shooting clubs. The Crazy Quail’s battery operated rotating base will give you more unique target presentations in a smaller footprint.  It is available in single, double and quad versions.

While I wish I could afford to run one of these, the large quad machine holds 1,632 clays and throws 160 clays per minute. The spinning base by itself is selling for about $5,000 and the big quad is about $18,000. So, it would be a bit expensive for a personal clay thrower. However, it looks like it would be a blast for your gun club.

Want! So long as there is an easy way to power it off remotely while it is throwing clays everywhere.

This could finally be a safe way to go shooting with vice president Cheney.

  • noob, you control each release with a remote push button control. Perfectly safe!

What the actual fark? What is the purpose of shooting 162 clays per minute (other than “because i can”)? Most shotguns do not exactly have a high effective ROF. I think even the AA-12 would have a hard time keeping up with that.

      162 seems like overkill.

However, maybe the idea really is to simulate live bird hunting with multiple shooters going after a small group of birds at once?

It’s to simulate flushing a covey of quail and dealing with birds scattering every direction. =)

  • For those interested, I really would like to bring your attention to a brand new “World Premiere” Crazy Quail Introduction Video (with Tom Knapp & David Miller) we just posted. Check out what all the buzz is about!!
