FNAR Photo

I received this cool photo from FNH-USA PR and thought it worth sharing with y'all. The shooter is Ben Voss, a member of the FNH USA Long Range Precision Rifle Team, who is competing in the upcoming Sniper's Hide competition.

The rifle is the FNAR, the tactical version of the Browning BAR semi-automatic hunting rifle.

Stick with the great M14. Chamber it in either 358 Winchester or 338 Federal. Problem solved.
And magazines don’t cost $80 bucks!

Unless it a special type of magazine (P90, drum mag, etc), I cringe at any magazine that is over $25. $80 what a rip off.

People shooting at you might kill you, so tactics become quite important.

Animals rarely if ever, kill the hunters hunting them, so the tactical enhancement possibilities of ones rifle are secondary.

If hunting rifles had options like under the barrel slung anti-bear spray, then one could say such a feature is ‘tactical’. But till that day, the human to human fighting realm has dibs on the tactical term.

I have a buddy who got one. Didn’t care much for the HBAR and went with the lighter one.

What sucks? Proprietary mags. They’re about $80 each. Being an FNH, you’d think going with the FAL mag would have been more practical.

On a related note, check out the recoil characteristics when fitted with a PWS brake. Pretty slick for a 308!

“the tactical version of the Browning BAR semi-automatic hunting rifle.”
So when I go hunting for deer every fall with my DPMS .308T that’s not considered a “hunting” rifle? All the deer I’ve killed with it didn’t know if was a “tactical” rifle or a “hunting” rifle…a rifle is a rifle is a rifle.

Jamie, don’t take offense so easily. The FNAR is designed, marketed and sold as a tactical rifle. The Browning BAR is designed, marketed and sold as a hunting rifle. As far as I am concerned, you are welcome to hunt with whatever rifle you like.
