If you’ve been looking for a good set of aftermarket backup sights for your optics-ready HK VP9 Optics Ready pistol, then you’ll be interested to hear that XS Sights has just introduced their new R3D Suppressor/RMR height sights for that specific platform. The new sight offering will join the same family as the rest of XS Sights’ R3D lineup and will feature tritium 3-dot sights all made from the same durable and precise CNC machined steel.

H&K unveiled the new VP9 SK OR (Optics Ready) at today’s Industry Day at the Range. This newest addition to the VP9 lineup adds features to the carry model as well as some new refinements.  H&K was kind enough to walk me through the new pistol and let me try out their newest optics-ready variant.

The single stack 9mm market hasn’t completely gone to the wayside yet. Springfield Armory recently introduces new optics-ready versions of their XD-S MOD.2 pistols in an effort to meet the demands of modern concealed carriers. I was able to receive a copy of the Springfield XD-S MOD.2 OSP pistol in 9mm and in their 4-inch barrel configuration and with this review, I wanted to set out into a realm of handgun performance I hadn’t really spent all that much time with in the last couple of years. Why? Well with the introduction of modern micro-compact 9mm pistols, there really hasn’t been a need for me to pick up a compact single-stack 9mm in a long time but I had the feeling that many people still probably preferred their older single-stack 9mm pistols and might want to have carry-optics capabilities but keep largely the same gun.

Beretta has just released their latest version of the famous 92 series, the Beretta M9A4, which comes as an improvement over the M9A3. The primary difference between the A3 to the M9A4 is the addition of factory optics cuts on the top of the pistol’s slide, which was previously only achieved via aftermarket services or products. Beretta’s M9A4 webpage states that there are five different optics mounting plates available, and at the time of this publishing, Beretta stated that M9A4 buyers can get an optics plate for free upon registering their pistol.
