A few months ago, Leapers reached out to the crew at The Firearm Blog and asked if anybody would be interested in reviewing one of their new 1-8 LPVOs. I was particularly intrigued by this, as I was not aware that Leapers/Integrix was creating military spec optics, and I thought that they only made scopes for airsoft guns or pellet rifles. I was surprised to see that they are bringing to market a whole line of premium optics for real firearms. One of the standup features that really caught my eye with their INTEGRIX IX8 1-8 LPVO optic was that from one to eight power, they claimed that your eye relief will not change. I’ll be doing a full review later on on this optic but for now, this is just a first impression piece. You can find the manufacturer specs below and then at the bottom of this article, I will give my first impressions on this new optic from Leapers.

At the 2018 SHOT Show, Nightforce brought along their brand new 1-8 power scopes, including the much-anticipated NX8 1-8 power compact carbine optic. Alongside it, the company also debuted the ATACR 1-8×24, a larger, more capable one-to-eight that is better suited to distance shots.

The day many tactical optic enthusiasts have been whispering about over the past year is finally here: Nightforce has just announced their long-rumored 1-8 power tactical scope, called the NX8. Nighforce describes the NX8 1-8×24 F1 as “a class leading, compact and lightweight riflescope optimized for short to mid-range shooting“. The company also released a full spec sheet, replicated below:

The United States Special Operations Command (US SOCOM) is looking for a new variable-power rifle optic to allow users to engage targets out to 600 meters, while still preserving close-in capability. The solicitation, released last week on Fed Biz Opps, announces a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) supply contract for up to $33.2 million dollars worth of the new optics. The draft requires offerors to provide 12 sample optics before December 8th of this year. The solicitation follows a pre-solicitation notice issued in July.

One of the products that has been on the market for a little while that Patrick wanted to put hands on while at SHOT was the Primary Arms 1-8x24mm Platinum Series scope. With ultra clear glass and outstanding reticle choices, the Platinum series is a huge value in variable one power scopes. It is made in the same factory as other high-end scopes with a price point that is near half competing scopes.
