Apparently, it’s possible to improve the legendary 10/22, even with more than 10 million produced over the past 61 years. Ruger has just announced enhancements to its iconic rimfire rifle platform, bringing upgraded components previously seen only on select models to a broader range of Standard 10/22 configurations. Since its introduction in 1964, the Ruger 10/22 has been widely regarded as a benchmark in semi‑automatic rimfire rifles, known for reliability, aftermarket support, and adaptability. The latest updates are designed to make the platform even more appealing to shooters looking for a ready‑to‑shoot package straight from the factory.

Across the updated Standard 10/22 lineup, Ruger is incorporating the BX Trigger, a two‑stage trigger system that has been used in higher‑end 10/22 variants and recognized for its clean break and consistent pull. The BX Trigger is intended to provide a noticeable improvement in trigger feel compared to earlier, more basic rimfire trigger configurations.

Another change is the introduction of a redesigned lightweight stock. The updated stock reduces overall weight and offers a more modern ergonomic profile while remaining compatible with the rifle’s long history of aftermarket accessories.

Other enhancements include a match bolt release catch and a receiver with a rear cleaning port, both aimed at improving user handling and ease of maintenance.

The Ruger 10/22 remains chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 10‑round rotary magazine and retains its reputation as a platform that is versatile for recreational plinking, small‑game hunting, and a wide variety of tactical or precision‑oriented builds. The updated models continue to be backed by Ruger’s quality control processes and are supported by a broad ecosystem of parts and accessories.

According to Ruger, the upgraded features now available across the Standard 10/22 models bring in enhancements that were once reserved for premium variants, expanding the rifle’s out‑of‑the‑box capability.

The MSRPs for the new models range from $299 to $369.

Long time coming, but ALL 10-22’s should have the BX trigger. Like buying a car with bias ply or bias belted tires instead of radials. Not worth the savings, particularly if the mfg puts it in all products.
