Bill Wilson’s New Hardcover Distills 60 Years of Shooting Knowledge
Bill Wilson has been building firearms since before most of us were born. Now he's written a book about it. Wilson Combat just released Guns, Hunting, and Shooting: What I've Learned in 60 Years, a 234-page hardcover that spans rifle, handgun, and cartridge selection along with lessons learned from a lifetime afield. The book features 350 images across 12 chapters.
Wilson Combat is obviously proud of their founder, and they're not wrong to be. Craig Boddington calls it "a breath of fresh air to read someone who not only knows what he's talking about, but has been there and done that." Richard Mann, Shooting Editor at Field and Stream, puts it alongside Elmer Keith's Hell I Was There, Cooper's Another Country, and Townsend Whelen's Mr. Rifleman, which is not faint praise when you're talking about the canon of American firearms literature.
Boddington and Mann aren't in the business of being nice to everyone. If they say it's worth your time, it's worth at least a look.
Here's what the book covers:
- Bullet performance and cartridge selection
- Zeroing practices and field accuracy
- Hunting tips from multiple continents
- Competition shooting insights
- Real-world testing observations
Price and availability
The hardcover runs $35.95, which puts it well within impulse-buy territory for anyone who spends any time at the range or in the field.
Bill Wilson isn't just a company founder cashing in on his name. The man has been at this for six decades. He's competed, hunted across multiple continents, and built firearms for customers who demand absolute precision. That's a different kind of credibility than your typical industry spokesperson.
Have you read any Bill Wilson writing before? His blog posts and customer communications have always had a direct, no-nonsense quality to them. If the book reads like that, it will be worth your time.
