BIgger Kimber revolvers
The two biggest new products at Kimber America this year were 4″ barreled K6s DASA revolvers with larger grips. The first such model is called the K6s DASA “Target”. Featuring an adjustable rear sight and fiber optic front sight, the DASA Target weighs 25.5oz and has an MSRP of $989.00. The other 4″ K6s, the “Combat”, has a grip with finger grooves and features fixed white dot sights. The Combat has an MSRP of $989 as well. I personally found the new larger “three finger” (as Kimber calls them) grips to be a major enhancement to the K6s. I also appreciate the longer sight radius and increased velocities that can be achieved with the 4″ barrel.
Also new in the revolver department are a 2″ K6s DASA ($970) and a fancy “Texas Edition” 2″ DASA. Coming in at $1359 MSRP, the Texas edition features fancy scrollwork and Ivory colored G10 grips with an Alamo Flag motif. Being that their provenance is New York, however, they’re a bit like Hank Hill.New 10mm 1911
Besides a bunch of color variations of the EVO SP, Kimber’s notable new semiautomatic pistol is the “Rapide Black Ice”. The model on display was a 10mm, but they also are available in 9mm and .45. MSRP is $1490. Here’s what Kimber has to say about the Rapide Black Ice:Rapide (Black Ice)
A truly unique 1911 with stepped cocking serrations, slide lightening cuts for faster lock time, striking two-tone Kimpro finish and DLC coated barrel for extreme durability. Equipped with Kimber Stiplex TM front strap stippling and new G10 grips with matching accents for extra griping confidence.
There you have it, you can now gripe with confidence about your lumbago or the fact that you missed Matlock because your grandson wouldn’t stop going on about the Burger Glue that all the young folk are preparing for when you have a Kimber on your hip (all in jest, Kimber, it’s not as if we at TFB have never made a spelling mistake).
