Review: Kynshot AR-15 Buffer Damper (VIDEO)

A company called Kyntec sells the Kynshot buffer dampers for ARs, and a similar product for shotguns. I’ve been using their AR-15 Kynshot for the past six months and it’s been used in two of my 3-gun competitions this year. It’s an awesome product and anyone looking to optimize their AR should consider this fantastic accessory.

It installs in a snap and it’ll run you $109. Here’s a quick video on the installation and some commentary:

As I discuss in the video, I have this in my competition 3-gun AR, and even though it shoots really flat I did notice a positive difference after installing the Kynshot. I imagine if you have a stock gun with no modifications, you’d see a bigger difference.

This product is useful for shooters who want less recoil or for shooters who are firing multiple shots in a short amount of time. Competition shooters and hunters come to mind. In 3-gun for example, we often have to send two shots into cardboard targets and so all efforts to keep your gun shooting flat will help speed things up. For hunters who need to take follow up shots, reducing recoil is helpful. There are also clear benefits for law enforcement and military, seeing as they often fire shots in rapid succession.

If you’re just the weekend plinker, I’m not sure the Kynshot is for you unless you simply love pimping out your AR with every gadget and accessory on the market. Bottom line though is that the Kynshot has worked really well for me and it’s staying in my competition gun for the foreseeable future.
