Last fall Cheston at Phone Skope seriously hooked me up with help for the review I did of the Vortex Razor HD Spotting Scope. Optics are one of those really challenging things to review visually unless you are just going to nerd out on specs. “M’kay, great, those binoculars looks like binoculars” or “M’kay another forest green spotting scope, woo-woo”.
Where Phone Skope comes in is allowing you to use a shockingly wide variety of cameras (from cell phone, to GoPros, etc) to record and capture through a shockingly wide variety of optics, including spotters, binos, telescopes and microscopes. If that doesn’t meet your needs, simply engage their custom shop…
With the adapter and case they sent I was able to video capture trace from my rifle at 800 yards. And it is not just limited to usage as a media capture format. It provides a way to reduce eye fatigue by giving you a larger view port from your optic, or say, using the phone’s camera to capture and confirm your shots at distance. In the booth, when I met with them, they showed an amazing video a hunter took of a harvest, showing the trace all the way to dropping the animal.
If you have any interested in longer range photography, or just sharing the eyepiece with multiple people.
